Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?
SWEET WATERS OF SALADO CREEK
with that sculpture of a mermaid
reminding us of Tonkawa Legends
(Like the Spanish named Salado Creek
And the Tonkawa were friendly thieves
Cattle ending up in their camps
Scots and Spanish admired them
In Civil War,they were our scouts
Salado Athens of the South
With Salado College for both sexes
Emphasis upon CULTURE,CULTURE,CULTURE!
Library and Community Center
Waters rise and waters fall
Legends of Salado call
us to update as volunteers
in this their 25th performing year
