THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

ONE HUNDRED DEGREES.104 HEAT INDEX

Global warnings get real/close in Austin,Texas

when the rain barrels scrape dust,and creeks turn stone

and even the floods become evaporated memories. 

We had small towns washed down creeks/people disappear 

We will not be forgetting them/like fog mornings/mist and slow rain

As long as we have the promise of seasons,these dry grasses will grow again 

Only now it is longer cycles-generations recall drought and parch 

but not this humid heat that enervates/demanding air conditioning..

And where will coal mines go now that we no longer need pollution? 

Nuclear heat gives way to solar cells..when rivers return/they will turn

wheels of paddle boat steamers,or water wheels or fly wheels 

but they WILL turn,as weather does,exploding and releasing

sweat stains and body aromas in a perspiration of outdoors..

You are in Heaven.Best get used to it.Hell could not afford the rent,and utilities

went(like the temperatures)through the roof.
