THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes: 

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

EYE KNOW WHY THE MONARCH FLIES
IN AN AGE OF DIMINISHING ROYALTY
Monarchs still fly over borders(unlike refugees
They (predictably)leave Mexico each Autumn
and we gain their temporary beauty in The Republic of Texas
Royal Blue wings flutter by us with ease and an inner clock
that lets them know their time of day and direction of Southwest
Problem is-their sole food source is milkweed
It is in diminishing quantities as we claim more human territories
Soon,in our world,there may be no more Monarchs at all
Their Fall akin to ours,while we destroy our habitat ecologically
Monarchs of Great Beauty are fewer/are less in quantities
Soon there will only be praise poems for a vanished species

Not necessarily humans..
