SCOTS singer Barbara Dickson has said that groping and propositions from men was just part of life in the seventies.
The 67-year-old famed for her hit 'I Know Him So Well' revealed that she was forgiving towards some of the high profile men accused of historic sex abuse, because 'mud sticks' when the allegations are proved to be false.
The Dunfermline-born singer and actress, who launched her career 50 years ago said: “Women just raised their eyebrows when things like that went on. It was a part of life.”
And, although the mum-of-three supports the prosecution of serious sex offenders, she believes less severe abuse allegations should be dealt with differently.
She said: “There are probably a lot of cases which are inappropriately brought to court. There was a climate of ‘playful behaviour’ on the part of men which women, even at that time, would not have approved of.
“Most women have experienced that – but they have not experienced serious abuse of any sort. It was the Seventies. It was a different world then.
