MASTODON'S BRENT HINDS ON THE GENIUS OF FRANK ZAPPA

Brent turns on the charm
Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds has spoken exclusively to TeamRock about his great passion for the musical works of Frank Zappa. Speaking to us at his home in Atlanta, Georgia, the bearded virtuoso waxes lyrical about discovering Zappa for the first time and how the legendary composer and guitarist continues to be a huge presence in his musical life and listening habits. “You know it’s Frank Zappa when you hear it,” Brent says. “It has that signature guitar tone. It provides hours of entertainment for my life! I have 80 of his albums on my iTunes. It’s a mind-blowing catalogue.”

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
