Chris Squire Says Yes Is Gathering Music for Album with New Singer; Shares Details of Upcoming Tour

The Gonzo DailyWhile Yes is getting ready to launch their latest North American tour in March, during which the band will be playing three of their 1970s albums in their entirety, the prog-rockers also are looking ahead to recording their first studio album with new frontman John Davison.  Bassist Chris Squire tells Billboard.com that the group may be ready to begin the new recording in the fall, while admitting that the project currently is “in the germination stage.”
He reports, “We’re already looking at bits and starting to gather music together.”
The album will be the follow-up to Yes’ 2011 release, Fly from Here, which featured the band’s previous lead singer, Benoit David.  He was replaced by Davison in early 2012 after suffering problems with his voice.  Squire says he expects Davison, who also works with the bands Glass Hammer and Sky Cries Mary, to contribute a bit more to Yes than David.
“Jon is also a writer, so he’ll be bringing something to the table to add to the Yes mix,” explains Chris.  “He’s definitely a creative spirit, so we’re looking forward to that new material with him.”

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
